nothing about reactivity, only neefirfdces in structure or chemical make-up on paper. As many of us know, things on paper are often far different than they are in reality.Chemistry is often the same, structures written on paper do not adequately reflect how things behave in the real world. Chemists study the reactivity of compounds and molecules under different conditions. The fact that people can draw a different structure for methylene glycol and formaldehyde is irrelevant. What's important is that the two compounds interconvert rapidly in water, i.e. one does not exist without the other. To suggest that methylene glycol in water exposed to heat will not convert to formaldehyde is a bit like putting a block of ice in a warm room and expecting the floor to stay dry.A similar phenomenon exists with carbon dioxide (CO2) and water. When dissolved in water a portion of CO2 converts to carbonic acid (H2CO3). Soft drinks for example contain carbonic acid as a result of being carbonated with CO2. This is why soda has an acidic pH and carbonated water gets a slightly sour taste. When a can of soda is opened CO2 escapes and H2CO3 converts to CO2 and escapes as well. This is directly analogous to what happens with methylene glycol and formaldehyde. As it's heated formaldehyde escapes and methylene glycol is converted to formaldehyde and escapes into the air as well. As a well versed chemist I would caution you and anyone from making health and safety decisions based on differing CAS #'s because it just doesn't matter. Furthermore, OSHA hires lots of chemists that look out for people's Safety and Health, so wouldn't you rather they err on the side of caution?

Since I was a young girl & then into womanhood, I suffered terribly, first w/ extremely painful periods, then manifesting into endometriossis. At the worst point, I could literally claw the plaster off the walls due to the level of pain I would experience each monthly cycle. It got so bad, I wished I would just die. It was horrible knowing exactly when the torture would start that I would have to insure! The journey to healing, a long one!, I will say, started when somehow....miraculously I started making connections to enviormental estrogens & my endometriossis. This took a lot of "uncovering" on my part, as this is going back 2 decades ago when this type off stuff was NEVER talked about, nevertheless EXPOSED as it is starting to today. In a nutshell I began to realize personal care products that contained placenta in it were a BIG cause in my hormones being off whack leading to the severe endometriossis. Other things like the plastic used in microwaves, plastic water bottle I used to put my energy drink in after my workout & would pop in the freezers to get iced cold....all among other things I uncovered were all contributing to my pain & suffering. I am thankfull I had an open mind to learning about these things that were barely heard of, & certainly not something that anyone I knew, knew about. Ultimately, it was my journey towards natural health & healing. I have on my own, healed myself (w/ natural modalities) from my endometriossis. It is despicable & should be illegal for manufacturers to be able to put items on the market that they don't HAVE to prove are safe, not the other way around. Many health issues including many cancers are hormone (endocrine) related. The endocrine disputing chemicals (xenoestrogens) are EVERYWHERE in our enviorment, & I truly believe it is in our water that we are all drinking & bathing & showering in, something we cannot live without!. This needs to be exposed!so that it is something EVERYONE knows about. Some of the other sources of contaminants we can avoid on our own but water, we can't really avoid that, can we?!. I pray that every person opens their eyes & a revolt happens that changes things around dramatically! Otherwise more & more health issues will arise & more suffering will prevail. Rachel Carson, an enviormental scientist way ahead of her time wrote a book quite some time ago called "Silent Spring". I highly recommend everyone possible to read that book! It will blow your mind what has been covered up now for decades about the harm to the earth, people, wildlife, etc because of these xenoestrogens. It is sad, & scary information, but only with knowledge comes power! The power to make informed decisions leading to change, & a better world for all of us & our future generations. A site like this is a move forward in that direction!....so I thank you!
